“I was mesmerized by this compelling true tale of survival and discovery from someone who knows all too well the cost of abuse. I laughed and cried my way through this powerful story. Captivating…. a must read.”
– Cheryl Ladd, actress, singer, and author
HEAVEN OVER THE OCEAN by blind artist Edwin Dickman
This painting is called “I Surrender “. It was based on a real life episode when I nearly drowned in an ocean swim after being pounded by a 25 foot wave. I prayed to god to spare my life and after what seemed like an eternity my outstretched hands emerged from the dark cold water and I gasped for air. This is one of the poignant paintings and stories in the book Living with Edwin.
Actually it's an edible sculpture made with Peach Jello, Vodka, and Schnapps, with a side of Gummy Eyeballs! A great example of art from a brain surgeon.....yes I'm a neurosurgeon. There are stories in my new book "Living With Edwin" about neurosurgery and also about Brains on Drugs..
